So I'd been hearing about these VIP Cinemas out on McGillivray and Kenaston and I thought it sounded pretty cool. Wine and a movie, plus comfy chairs? Sign me up. But woah, I had no idea just how awesome it would be. It's like the difference between flying first class and economy. Once you've experienced the high life, it's pretty much impossible to go back.
It all starts as you enter to buy your ticket. You're paying a premium--but trust me, it's well worth it. Then you head to the back of the building where funky blue lights and sliding glass doors welcome you into an oasis of calm and sophistication. No screaming kids or sticky floors here.
What you enter is a chic and sleek lounge complete with cushy chairs, a bar, soft lighting, big screen TVs and a full service food menu. It features simple classics like hearty burgers and poutine and even dessert (I had a date with a rather drool-worthy piece of cheesecake), as well a complete cocktail menu with fun and fancy mixed drinks, wine and beer.
It made me wonder how someone didn't think of this 20 years ago?
We settled in, ordered dinner and wine and relaxed before the movie started. Once we'd had our fill, we headed inside the theatre to our plush assigned seats. A few minutes later, the second glass of wine and bag of M&Ms I ordered were delivered to my seat. (Yah yah, I might have gone a little overboard on the treats, but when in Rome...)
I was in heaven.
After the movie was done, my date and I couldn't stop raving about what a nice evening it had been.
This kind of experience makes it feel like a real night out, rather than just going to a movie. It was so much fun. In case you hadn't picked up on it by now, I'd recommend you check it out.
