Tuxedo

Tuxedo

Tuxedo is Winnipeg’s “oh la la” area. Sprawling mansions, lush greenery and gorgeous character homes are found in this upscale suburban neighbourhood. In the early 1900s Tuxedo was originally conceived as “Tuxedo Park,” an exclusive residential suburb.

Assiniboine Park is the area’s biggest attraction. This beautiful green space features a zoo, a duck pond, the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, the Nature PlaygroundQualico Family Centre, trails, English gardens, restaurants, a pavilion and a stage for musical performances throughout the summer. The Park Café is warm, inviting and a picture-perfect place to have a meal with family and friends. Located inside the Qualico Family Centre, the child-friendly café is charming and affordable. If you want an up close and personal meeting with polar bears, then The Tundra Grill is sure to chill to the bone. This restaurant, located in the Assiniboine Park Zoo, offers exclusive views of playing polar bears while you dine.

You’ll bust a gut with the help of good laughs and great food at Rumors Comedy Club, where bigwig comedians from across North America perform frequently.

If you prefer outdoor adventures, you can work on your swing on the 18-hole course or driving range at Tuxedo Golf Course. Located across from Assiniboine Park, this course also boasts a popular 18-hole mini-golf course.

For fitness enthusiasts, the Rady Jewish Community Centre features 54,000 square feet for you to get your sweat on. Dive into the pool, sign up for fitness classes or personal training, or just drop in for pilates. You can also catch a show here performed by the professional community theatre company Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, with more than 30 seasons under their belt.
