It's time to continue the top 10 list I started the other day. I know you've all been waiting at the edge of your seats for this.
6. Wonders of Nature: There's nothing like the great outdoors and and the cute little coo of baby bison and ducklings (or whatever sound it is they make when they're babies). Luckily, you don't even have to leave the city to get up close and personal with nature. FortWhyte Alive and Oak Hammock Marsh offer up nature trails, canoeing, interpretive walks and everything else you need to channel your inner David Suzuki.
7. Assiniboine Park: Winnipeg's emerald jewel is the place for rest, relaxation and running (I love a good alliteration). An urban park in the heart of the city, Assiniboine Park has manicured green lawns, flower gardens, sculpture gardens, kids playgrounds, amazing restaurants, a zoo, a theatre and its very own forest.
8. Cultural Experiences: Dance, theatre and music--Winnipeg has it all. From the lively steps of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to the strings of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, there is never a shortage of places to wear that suit or fancy dress to. Oh, and you'll get a little culture rubbing elbows with the city's elegant set as well.
9. Sports and Gaming: Lady Luck can be a cruel mistress, but who cares when you're surrounded by tropical fish or crystal chandeliers? Roll the dice with the fishes (erm, fish) at Club Regent Casino or spin the wheel in opulent splendour at McPhillips Street Station. After you've filled (or emptied) your pockets kick back for live entertainment and heaps of delicious food.
10. Royal Canadian Mint: They say money makes the world go round and at the Mint, that's really true. Shiny and dazzling, take a peek at where our coins (and that of many a foreign nation) are made. You can even hold a gold brick worth more than a bajillion dollars (or like $600,000)--I'm no math whiz, but that sounds like a lot of dough.
