Free events & things to do
Assiniboine Park’s free film and concerts are back, so get your lawn chairs ready! The Casinos of Winnipeg Summer Entertainment Series runs from Aug.1 to Sept. 9 at the Lyric Theatre and will feature events like Movies in the Park, Yoga in the Park and so many great live bands. Three nights a week you can catch big Winnipeg acts like The Lytics (Aug. 25), Slow Leaves (Aug. 26), and Leonard Sumner (Aug. 4), while this summer’s films include The Lion King (Aug 6), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Aug. 13), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Aug. 27). Yoga is every Sunday at 7 p.m.

The city’s outdoor pools are all open and accepting guests following social distancing guidelines. You can preregister for specific swim times, while Freight House, Happyland, Provencher and Windsor Park pools are all free.
Seeing the city won’t cost you a thing, even when it’s a guided experience. The majority of these audio tours are free to download while still covering the city’s rich history, be it The Forks Audio Tour, the Upper Fort Garry interactive app, or simply discovering new things on the streets of The Exchange.
The Winnipeg Art Gallery will host Canada Life Re-Opening Free Days on Aug. 14-15 (with every second Sunday of the month being free once again), while other free new events with the WAG include Metis Kitchen Table Teachings on Aug. 2 and 21.
