Batter up for the summer 2022 Winnipeg Goldeyes season!
The Fish are back and we are so excited to celebrate the biggest catch of the season from stands where the local food and drink is a guaranteed double play.
Shaw Park never drops the ball when it comes to its culinary services and all-round fan experience. It's the perfect spot to spend an evening or afternoon downtown (and a super affordable one at that!), where the food, bevys and baseball will never be left on base.
Here's just a few reasons why the lineup at Shaw Park will make you wish every home game was a doubleheader.
LET'S TALK BEER
For 2022, Shaw Park is selling 100 per cent local beer via 12 local breweries in a two-week rotation, with four Winnipeg and Manitoba breweries represented each fortnight. This July (14-31) you can catch heavy hitters Fort Garry, Torque, Oxus and Nonsuch, while come August Kilter Brewing Co, Little Brown Jug, and Trans Canada Brewing Co. will round out the roster. Each brewery is offering two styles of beer, including eight different styles of draught to choose from at each game. You can find your familiar favourites at the Craft Beer Corner, at all bars and especially from those loud and “get ya beer here” hawkers!
They've also brought to the plate a 26 oz "Beer Bat," which is exactly what it sounds like, a bat full of beer (please, don't swig for the fences #punsneverstrikeout).
On July 23, Shaw Park is also hosting its first ever Ballpark Brewfest, a collab between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Manitoba’s breweries. Grab your tickets here for the best night of beer!
NEW VENDORS SO YOU CAN ROUND THE BASES
The Park is going big this year—literally— selling menu items that come in outrageous sizes. That aforementioned Beer Bat, the two-foot tall Goldeyes cup in the shape of a bat, can also be made into a Slushie Bat which surely is a guaranteed Brain Freeze!
There’s also the new Ballpark Caesar: a double Caesar in a Goldeyes souvenir cup, garnished with 100 per cent local favourites including a pepperoni stick from Danny’s Whole Hog, a cube of Bothwell Cheese, a mini perogy from Mr. Perogie, and a dill pickle spear.
Try out the new Nacho Taco which offers its own nacho helmet–yes you read that right–perfect to shield you from those fly-away balls (as long as it doesn't land in the queso).
There are also new vendors at Shaw Park for summer 2022. Empty Cup Collective, the smash hit locally owned coffee shop is serving a variety of coffee drinks, teas, food and snacks; Bigg Smoak BBQ is here for your saucy pulled pork and brisket, and then there's The Lemonade Stand to quench your thirst. The Park also has a list of allergy-friendly vendors including dairy, egg, gluten, peanut free and alcohol-free menus. Talk about a homer!
As always, established local food vendors are back for the 2022 season, like the gods of garlic crusted za–Little Pizza Heaven, Clay Oven for all of your butter chicken needs and the Pretzel Place to cure your salt fix.
The Park is in the perfect location, just minutes away from the historic Exchange District and Saint-Boniface, just steps from Portage and Main and The Forks.
Take yourself out to the ball game and get ready for your mid inning stretches—this season is going to be a good one.
