The Burton Cummings Theatre will host a celebration of the 50th anniversary of a local cult classic film, Phantom of the Paradise Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. Tickets start at $20 plus fees and go on sale to the public on Friday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m.
The event will feature a screening of the movie and cast member appearances. Cast members so far confirmed to be in attendance include Peter Elbling (credited as Harold Oblong), Archie Hahn and Jeffery Comanor who appeared in the film as The Juicy Fruits, The Beach Bums, and The Undead; as well as Paul Williams who played the character Swan and was the singing voice for The Phantom.
To close off the evening, tribute band Swanage will perform the entire movie soundtrack in what may be their last performance. Phantom of the Paradise is an American rock musical comedy horror film written and directed by Brian De Palma and scored by and starring Paul Williams. It opened at the National theatre in Los Angeles on Oct. 31, 1974.
