Located 15 minutes from downtown Winnipeg and airport area, Assiniboine Park Zoo provides visitors with the opportunity to interact with animal species from all corners of the globe. Open year-round, with over 80 park-like acres to explore, the Zoo has been a favourite destination with visitors for over a century.

Discover the magic of the North in the heart of the continent.  The award-winning Journey to Churchill exhibit is home to polar bears, muskoxen, Arctic fox, wolves and other northern species. It is the most comprehensive northern species exhibit of its kind in the world. Visitors experience a variety of naturalistic landscapes and animal viewing areas. Interpretive signage and interactive displays invite visitors to learn about biodiversity, climate change and conservation. It is an educational classroom like no other, inviting exploration, challenging thinking and promoting personal action.

The Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre opened at Assiniboine Park Zoo in 2012. A key component of the Journey to Churchill exhibit, the Centre is a hub for environmental and wildlife education, research and conservation. This state-of-the-art facility will ensure that Manitoba remains a centre of global influence in polar bear conservation while providing a unique experience for Manitoban families and visitors alike. The Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre interpretive centre is temporarily closed.

Located in the north area of the Zoo, the McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre covers 4.7 acres and is home to five Percheron horses year-round and includes a barn, pastures, paddocks and a carriage shed. Visitors to the Zoo have the opportunity to experience barn tours and learn about the pioneer era of our province’s history, when heavy horse power was relied on in industries such as agriculture, forestry, mining, and road construction. Wagons rides are offered in the summer and sleigh rides in the winter for an additional fee of $3. The barn at McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre is temporarily closed. The outdoor area remains open. Wagon rides are currently unavailable.

For visitors to the Zoo, the 150-seat Tundra Grill offers affordable quick-service meals with plenty of kid-friendly items and incredible views of the Zoo’s largest polar bear exhibit through a 150-foot-wide wall of 9-foot-high windows. It’s like no other restaurant experience! Inside the Tundra Grill building is the Polar Playground, an indoor Arctic wonderland of active participation guaranteed to have children climbing, sliding, learning, exploring and begging for more! Two birthday party rooms are available for rent. Open daily 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (take-out only)

Two gift shops are located within the Zoo: Wild Things Unique Gifts (located at the Zoo entrance) and Arctic Treasures (located at the North end of the Zoo). Both shops are temporarily closed.

Open daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Easter to Thanksgiving). Winter hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
