Well, if you're like me, you're gearing up for the long weekend.
It's the first official yearly foray into the 'holiday' season where turkey is served, family comes to visit and your belt needs an extra hole on it.
We've been enjoying a spectacular fall in the weather department. The leaves have changed, the air is crisp and that feeling of change is in the air.
To me, there are few things more quintessential about fall in Winnipeg, than a trip out to A Maze in Corn.
Located about 10 minutes south of the Perimeter on St. Mary's, A Maze in Corn is the perfect long weekend stop to bring the kids and the whole family. Take a pony ride, climb the hay bale pyramid and pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home and carve (or make pie).
There is so much to do out here and the kittens and bunnies and various other farm life wandering around will make you feel like you've left the city and entered an idyllic rural setting. It would be easy to while away a day here sipping hot chocolate, snacking on homemade perogies and enjoying the fresh air.
The petting zoo is always a crowd pleaser where baby goats, fluffy lambs and honking geese are waiting to make friends.
Snuggle a kitten and then climb your way up high and zip line your way across the corn fields. Don't look down! Or do--depends how brave you are.
The highlight, of course, is the extensive corn maze full of twists and turns. Pair up and form teams to vy for corn maze glory by completing the scavenger hunt the fastest.
For the bigger kids (and those that just act like it), the maze turns into a forest of terror in the evening where things that go bump in the night follow you through the darkened fields.
Not for the faint of heart, it's the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit. (Full disclosure: I am far to big a chicken to take this on. Sometime report back to me if you make it out alive.)
